Here's an age old dilema. Mac or PC?
My laptop is about to die. It's a PC. I need to upgrade my software, so a cross grade to Mac is an option at this time. But do I stay with PC and get more bang for my buck or go to Mac and buy more stability??

I switched earlier this year and I love it. If I didn't have to use a PC for work, I'd be all Mac, all the time.

I'm still a PC gal but use a Mac when I'm in offices for Freelance design. I'd stick with a PC. It's stable, familiar and you can get everything you need.

Are you by chance going up to CS4?

I vote mac. I think you will be pleasantly surprised at the wonderful user interface once you get past the learning curve. If you do, make sure to get the Apple Care warrantee . All computers will have their issues...

Mac, mac, mac, mac!!!!
Especially as a designer but they are so beautiful and easy to use. Have a try on one and see.
I agree with Cicada Studio too, get the extra warranty if it's for a laptop.

Easy... go the Mac! Go into one of those Apple stores and check them out... I admit to being bias, we've been a Mac family for about 15 years but I do know several people who have changed from PC's to Mac's and it's as if they've discovered something new because all they can talk about it Mac Mac Mac... it's funny!

I was asking myself the exact same question just recently - I will squeeze a few more months out of my pc but was thinking should I go the Mac next time.

I will watch with interest to what you end up with.

Definitely Mac. I never though I would get into it (husbands choice, not mine!) but I really love it. My parents even just got one this year (after seeing ours) and are on the internet for the first time in their lives!

mac, you can run pretty much everything on a mac these days. i'm not a designer, my husband made me get a mac book 2 years ago and i will never go back.

I upgraded my PC last year and toyed for ages whether to get a mac or not. Seeing the prices, my husband decided I didn't need it:-(
Needless to say next time it will be a mac (particularly after selling all the lovely kits of cours :-) x

Go the Mac :-)
Like a previous poster said, you can run everything...even run a 'PC' on it if you absolutely had to!

Mac all the way.

I'm back to my PC laptop after leaving my job, but I'm reverting back to a Macbook Pro very soon. You can't beat it.

MAC! In terms of having and using a computer for a long time, mas is the way to go. The only reason I got a new one was so that I could sell my old one and make some money. It was a 4 year old laptop that STILL worked great and I put it through the ringer. I was able to sell it for $500. They have great reliability and a high resale value. That actually makes them cheaper in the long run. It's really no comparison and you'll NEVER go back.

Mac! I've owned four computers and three of them have been Macs. The other (my first computer) was a Commodore 64 that didn't even have a desktop interface.

I agree that you should get Apple Care. It is worth it just in case something happens.

Get a Mac! You'll love it. I promise! Once you go Mac, you'll never go back. : )

Definitely get the Apple Care plan. It's totally worth it.

It IS an old dilemma isn't it?
I always used to be a Mac person, then a few years ago was 'forced' onto PC for drafting software reasons, but now with the Intel chip in macs, I'm happily back on the iMac (desktop and powerbook laptop) and...it's SO good to be back!!
