Fabric in store

You can now purchase my fabric in Melbourne, Australia from Lynn at Patchwork on Central Park. There are loads of different colourways in both 'little owls' and 'botanical/feathers'. Thanks to those that have already dropped in and purchased some!
And an update on the progress of 'mollybirds' - it has been a bit slower than I thought and the printer is only just printing it this week. All good things take time... I neeed to get sewing a diaper bag for a certain girl called Molly in need of something to hold all her stuff! Cross your legs Molly - I'll be onto it ASAP.

Corners

This is my amazing rounding corner thingy bought from a local scrapbooking shop.

And this is my current WIP - a large quilt to snuggle under in winter with all my favourite fabrics.

New cards

My local printer was having a sale on business cards in March. It was too tempting, I tried to stop myself...really! Then I had this brilliant idea for mini cards. Design two cards on the one layout and just chop in half and round of the corners with my new rounding corners thingy.

Also it was just perfect for putting my hair buttons on that are going to the local art gallery.

I think I might just be a business card junkie.

There will be no mowing going on around here this weekend. Just birthday present shopping (what is Poly World anyway??? Being a mum of 2 boys doesn't send me into this realm often) and finally sewing a quilt for myself! I have pulled out all my favourite fabrics and cut them all up. Couldn't believe I did it, but yes ALL cut up - not a scrap left.

Child of the 70's

A textile designer friend (hi Bettina) has informed me that 70's geometric prints are the next thing in Australia. Not sure if I like that idea. I was born in the 70's and have some vivid memories of brown and apricot curtains that my Mum let me choose for my bedroom. Then of course I had to have the matching apricot walls.

So I borrowed a book from the library to get me over the 70's fear of massive geometric prints in hideous colours. And now I'm thinking it wasn't all that bad...

Mow or sew?

I have a kid free morning tomorrow and a big dilemma. This is a pic of my youngest in the yard when he was a bub. That's pretty much how my backyard looks at the moment. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy that we have finally had some rain in Sydney - but it does present me with a problem. I have a large yard and with the height of the grass you could lose a small child.

I have never mown a lawn. I know, it's outrageous. So I thought I should give it a go but the sewing machine is calling to me. I don't think it's really calling me, just my delusional state after seeing 'Music and Lyrics' at the movies for the second time. What is wrong with me?

I think I am stressing about starting the mower more than actually pushing it around the yard for 2 hours. I am liking the look of those new rechargeable electric mowers. A friend around the corner has one and said I could take it out for a test drive. I can't believe this lawn talk is coming from my mouth. I must need some sleep.

Stop blogging at night... it's all nonsense.

Today's WIP

This black fabric has been hiding in the cupboard since last summer. Well, not really hiding, left exactly where I tucked it away filed under "make into a dress". Halfway through the tension on my machine went nuts... I cleaned, re-threaded, paniced mildly, moved the tension dial to a large number it's not supposed to be on and it limped along well. I'll be off to visit my local repair man this week. I'm hoping to finish it tonight while the kids are in bed. Hem, zipper and neck bind and we are done!
