Winner

I'm a winner. Not like when I was young and my brother and I would sarcastically comment 'he's a real winner'.

But 'picked to receive a blog prize' type winner.

Now you would think that with all the sewing done around here that Jack would have a library bag. No. But there's one winging it's way over from mikodesign. Thanks Erika!

On another note the lady at the cake shop laughed at me today when I asked for 2 cupcakes with 'fairies' on top.
'Do you mean sprinkles?' she asked.

'oh yeah.'

Then I smiled to myself all the way to pick up the boys from school. If you live in Australia you would know that 'fairy bread' is an absolute must for any successful kids birthday party. In fact we had some on the weekend thanks to Al.

Sew and Tell

There is a new retailer for my fabrics! I am very happy to introduce Sew & Tell of Berry NSW (Australia). So if you are on holidays in the lovely south coast area (or lucky enough to live down that way) drop in and see Michelle. She has purchased my whole range of fabrics in every colour. Most of it will arrive this week, with some more in a few weeks time. Sorry, no website that I know of.

Handprinted

Sewing again! The thumb is on the mend and it's back to business. A sling bag made from Lara's fabric (and a few pencil cases).

Ouch

Tip: move your thumb right out of the way when cutting a cardboard roll with a stanley knife.

Fact: Cutting halfway across your thumb with a knife doesn't hurt as much as childbirth, but it comes close.

My boys were absolute troupers last night as their Mum sat crying her eyes out, rocking back and forth and nursing her thumb. Harry cleared the lounge, offered me a seat, asked if I wanted a glass of water and even offered to go to his room incase I needed to cry on my own. One rough night of sleep and now I'm off to shower with a plastic bag on my hand. Just so glad it wasn't worse than that!

On a much nicer note, I have some mix packs for sale in the shop.

Cutting fabric

I received a package from Lara this week. I'm in awe. Normally I can quite happily cut away into fabric and make something straight up. Couldn't do it this time. It is such a gorgoeus colour and the texture is beyond words.
So it had to wait a whole day. Thanks Lara (and also for the other bits or cuteness)!

Pouches

Sewed up a storm yesterday with a few hours to spare on my own. Love these wooden flower buttons from my local craft shop.

Great day

One day this week was pretty bad, everything seemed to go wrong. Then the next was the opposite! I have never been so happy to fork over $240 to fix my car. But when the alternative could have been $3000, I was a happy girl. It seemed an oil change and redoing the cars memory fixed the problem and I was saved from having to buy a new start clutch!

smurfs + chocolate

Oh to be a smurf. What a simple life. Will Gargamel eat me today?

The kids nagged me to let them play with my toys. Half are my original smurfs from the '70s and half I bought for them over the last few years. Kind of a 'I loved them, so you will too' present. I think Homer is having an identity crisis.

Then I had some bad news about my car today. Could cost me $80 to fix, or thousands. Yes, it's true. I will find out tomorrow, if I decide to get out of bed. So to drown my sorrows and celebrate another basketball win (2 in a row!) I bought this choc mud scone. Perfect with a tall glass of milk. It makes everything seem better for a few minutes. I love the packaging. No, if I'm in a bakery I'm not looking for a 'slim snack'.
