Tagged

I was tagged by janine de waal a few weeks back and now I can't find the rules, etc. But I'm sure I had to share 7 things.
  1. I love wearing red, but don't want to be tagged 'that girl always in red'. So I force myself to buy other colours and am slowly weaning myself off it.
  2. When I was 16 I only wore black. That lasted for a few years. I'm thinking of doing it again, will make mornings easier.
  3. I like reality TV shows... cringe-worthy admission.
  4. My youngest son starts school tomorrow and he's been assuring me I won't cry. I will, all day.
  5. If I play basketball I think it gives me the right to eat ice-cream every night of the week. So I try not to buy ice-cream too often.
  6. I bought my very first tub ever of neopolitan ice-cream this week. The chocolate is already gone. Jack (youngest son who is a chocoholic) is going to be MAD when he finds out.
  7. I read to go to sleep at night. A few pages and I'm gone. So it takes me weeks (sometimes months) to finish a book.

Also Didine gave me this wonderful Award. Thank you! Here is the description that goes along with this award:
Give the award to up to 10 people whose blogs bring you happiness and inspiration and make you feel so happy about blogland ! Let them know by posting a comment on their blog so that they can pass it on. Beware! You may get the award several times!

It's not fair just picking 10. I'm sure I could list 100. Here are some bloggers (other than sweet Didine and stack of blogs I read) that bring happiness and inspiration to me:

Dandelion

More products for Hazelhurst Art Gallery.

A new fabric (available by the metre)! Finally. There were a few production probs with this and it had to be reprinted. So glad to have it in my hands now.

Stop the press

Two rather incredible things happened in the Cheekybeaks household.

1. The kids and I baked - close friends can pick themselves up off the floor now.

2. My basketball team won a game.

Now no.2 may not seem so amazing, but we've been playing for two months, had a month off for Christmas hols and on the first week back (with only 3 on the court for the first few mins) this is our first win ever! We were so over the top in our celebrations that we felt the need to apologise and explain the reason to our opponents. Probably didn't make it any better for them...

Production

Here's the bunny assembly line. I like the instant gratification of having a one completed project, but understand the sense in making six at once and taking a little bit longer.
And if you hadn't already noticed, there's some 'ladybug' fabric for sale in my shop.

Proud

My heart swelled with joy as Jack (4 year old) pointed out he had drawn an owl. Totally unprompted. My boys would much rather kick a ball and run around like mad men than sit and draw. So this is pretty cool for me to see.

The boys are now playing 'night bowling' (in the morning) and I have a moment to catch up on emails and feed the blog. They have closed all the doors in the hall and have a torch set up behind the pins!
update: we have just had the awards ceromony for the bowling and I was presented with 3 toys from Harry for participating (I snuck in and did one bowl). There is now a disco going on in the hall. The boys have great taste and are showing of their moves to the sound of Joss Stone.

Whenever I get new fabric from the printers I'm always itching to cut it up and make stuff! So here is a pencil case (going to Cocoon) and stuffed toy. Also a BIG roll of candy striped nylon bakers twine from The Bay Tree (thanks for the tip off Miss K).

Finished

This print has been reworked and printed out, looked at, reworked and finally finished. It's off to the printer today! Now I have to pick colours... but first I'm off for a walk while the weather is still a bit cool, then I should think about the state of the house, the clothes that refuse to wash themselves, oh yeah - must shower.

new

New machine... ahhhh.

Successfully spent my Christmas money at Miranda Fair. Exactly the shoes I had imagined, in the first shop I went to, in my size (9) and reduced to more than half price - unheard of. Discovered a new clothing brand I hadn't seen before called Piper. Very up my alley.

Mini pen to go with a project I'm working on.

best ever

On the way into the NYE picnic I told Harry that this would be the best picnic he has ever been to. He rolled his eyes and said that I was being silly. Ten minutes later he agreed with me. Here's a few pics of the afternoon/evening.

Harry had his hair spray painted.

Trying on bikes for size.

Bowling.

Lots of eating.

Entertainment: Kinder Jazz (Had a laugh when I realised that I used to go to same church as lead singer - Steve)

Illuminated people that led the procession down to the harbour.

Now it's back to sewing. My machine has broken down too many times to recall lately. Mum and a friend have come to the rescue with their machines to use, but now it's time to bite the bullet and part ways with my old Pfaff (20 years we have been together). So there might be a new addition to the house tomorrow - fingers crossed. And I hope this machine will last me 20 years also!

3 bunnies that went to Hazelhurst Art Gallery today.
