Library goodness

A few weeks ago the library had a 3 day sale. Caro and I discussed going on the first morning and I forgot! Ahhh. I went the 2nd day, nothing much left and they closed up early and kicked me out. Then went to Caro's and took a look at her stash. My green eyed monster came out to play when I saw the Mackintosh textile design book she scored. I don't think our friendship would have survived the cat fight if I had gone to the sale with her and we BOTH saw that! Well, that is how I tried to console myself. At least I could borrow it whenever I needed.
Fast forward two weeks and Caro gives it to me!!! I could have skipped all the way home (if I didn't live up a very steep hill from her house). THANK YOU.

Up for sale

Caroline's funky Aussie print is up for sale in my shop. Here's one idea of what you can make, children's aprons.

Time

With a little tiny bit of spare time on my hands (who am I kidding, the dishes are piled high and the washing has been on the line for two days) some new fabric designs are emerging. I'm going for a rough hand drawn look with an Art Nouveau influence.

My friend, Caro

A little ad for my friend Caroline and her first textile print. Congrats! I have talked her into selling a few pieces and will put them in my shop at the end of the week. She will be producing a range of products from this fabric and they will be available towards the end of the year. But for now, you can have a little fun with the fabric yourself.
The above design is printed in rust red on a natural colour heavy weight cotton canvas. It features very funky Australian animals and is perfect for purses, patches and pencil cases! The size is large - 580x1350mm and the price is $40AUD plus postage. There are other colours available, just drop Caro a line at:

The winner is...

My lovely assistant/neighbour, Muriel, pulled this number from my decor tub (plastic container I make the boys smoothies in) and comment number 29 is the scraps winner! Congrats to Allison, please send me your details. You'll find my email in the Kristen Doran Design shop.
Thanks to everyone who left a comment - that was fun! I must do it again one day. But I'll have to get cutting and sewing before anymore scraps appear.

Bears

I eased myself into using Lara's fabric with a little project yesterday. A small family of bears. Think a bag in the chocolate on natural cotton will be the next project.

And a huge WOW to the response over my fabric scraps. I will print out everyone's name and do a draw in the morning. Thanks for all the comments and those who delurked themselves for the occasion. Nice to hear from you.

Lucky me

This was in my letterbox this week. Now I just have to decide what will do it justice. Thanks so much Lara!
And I have some more packets of scraps I can't bring myself to throw out and don't have the time to use. Just leave a comment and you'll go into the draw for some free scraps of my original prints.

The shape of things

This was given to me by my Nan many years ago. I pulled it out last night and looked at the way it has been shaped to her finger over time. This tiny object holds a lot of sewing stories. Wish it could talk.

And these thimbles are owned by my boys. Bought to do magic tricks with. Shaped by their fingers while they tried to scrunch them away in little hands to trick their Mum.
There is a 'camping' theme at preschool next week. Spurred me on to make a little sleeping bag for Jack. Of course his big brother has put in an order for one too.

And hardly a post goes by without a little 'mollybirds' project.

Time flys

Wow, that week disappeared. Visitors are over for the UK and I also had to join society and head into an actual real life office and do 2 days of work (hi Sarah) this week. So here are a few things I have done in the past few weeks.
Pot holder from limited edition one colour 'mollybirds'. I had 2 pieces printed with no aqua birds to see how it looked. My friend Naomi and I are cooking (ha) up a line of these with a twist! Will show more soon.

My quilt WIP moving slowly along. I hate ironing and putting backing on, so this might be a slow process.

And I starting to sketch up some more print ideas. I like the idea of an Art Deco garden. But we'll see. I will probably change my mind 50 times before I send something to the printer.

And I must mention Duckcloth! They have also picked up some of my limited edition prints and are available here. Thanks Lisa!
