I have a kid free morning tomorrow and a big dilemma. This is a pic of my youngest in the yard when he was a bub. That's pretty much how my backyard looks at the moment. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy that we have finally had some rain in Sydney - but it does present me with a problem. I have a large yard and with the height of the grass you could lose a small child.
I have never mown a lawn. I know, it's outrageous. So I thought I should give it a go but the sewing machine is calling to me. I don't think it's really calling me, just my delusional state after seeing 'Music and Lyrics' at the movies for the second time. What is wrong with me?
I think I am stressing about starting the mower more than actually pushing it around the yard for 2 hours. I am liking the look of those new rechargeable electric mowers. A friend around the corner has one and said I could take it out for a test drive. I can't believe this lawn talk is coming from my mouth. I must need some sleep.
Stop blogging at night... it's all nonsense.

I vote sew, the grass will keep growing..
My sewing machine would win over the lawn mower any day!
Your little babling is so adorable! Lawn mowing is a lot of hard work especially when the grass is tall, I say cut them while they're manageable (but of course, that's all up to you). I would rather go for the sewing too.
I did it! Put on my old timberland boots, jeans and hat and asked my neighbour how to start the mower. She couldn't get it going, so asked my other neighbour. He got it going and away I went. The mower rattled my arms till they nearly came off.
I decided just to mow until it ran out of petrol. All I could think of was - 'when is this thing going to run out of petrol'. And when it did I threw up my arms in celebration. I finished 3/4 of the yard.
I'm thinking if I design a range of fabric called 'lawn' every time I sell a few pieces, I can pay someone else to mow it!!!
I was just thinking the other day, that I should make a few things to be sold, and use the money to pay to have the lawn done!!! It sounds like you worked hard, and lawn mowers can be very hard to start!!! Well, happy sewing!!!
I think the sewing machine should overpower the lawn mower.....I mean really you're just conserving energy! LOL
OK, OK, so I couldn't get to the lawn as soon as I wanted to..
SORRY!
In future I'll do it in rain, darkness or whatever... anything to avoid a blog broadcast of my failure.
Your embarrassed husband. :-|
sooo, what was the decision? did you face your fears of starting up that big old lawn mower? I would think both projects--sew or mow--would elicit good feelings of accomplishment, no??!!
I say you should get a pet sheep to eat the grass, hence eiliminating the need to mow...then you can sew, shear the sheep in summer & give your Mum the wool so she can knit more pairs of $100 socks!
