new

School is over for the year, most of my fabric orders are sent, freelance jobs done and the house has been cleaned (mostly). This finally leaves me some time to work on designs I've been thinking about for months. First on the agenda is a boys yardage print. My little guys are now 6 and 9 years old. Their teddy bear and puppy dog curtains just don't cut it anymore. So with this in mind I decided to tackle a print for their age group. VERY tricky. Most of the stuff they are into is licensed products. So they were no help when asked for suggestions. We did a quick trip down the south coast yesterday and as I was driving back the street lights, wires and overhead bridges seemed like a recurring theme. I suggested these things as an idea to Harry, but he was in a bad mood and gave me no joy. I'm pressing on ahead regardless. Here's about an hours worth of designing... maybe about 3 or 4 more hours playing around with proportions and different elements and I should be done.

Oh I love it Kristen!! What scale? In which direction?? So many questions! Already wondering what I can make from it :-)

Yes, I am imagining a skirt with this as the large scale border print...this is spectacular KD, I want the first 2 metres ....

Very very exciting!! So hard to find older boy prints. Can't wait to see how this works out :) xox

Yes, Kristen, yes! I'm also totally thinking a skirt - imagine this image printed along the selvedge on one side only, it'll be perfect along the hemline of the skirt. I'm happy to churn out some samples!!

Wonderful design, I love it. All moody and gorgeous. Appeals to me, love the skirt idea, but I'd be making another cushion/journal cover.

maybe move away from the cliche technology and super heros - boys often have a softer side if you look for it - eg from experience I find ancient greece ( ie battles!) , dragons or even birds are popular
