dolls

I sewed up these gorgeous little girls : kits designed by the red thread. A present for Taylor who turned 2 yesterday.

And here's some of my Matryoshka dolls having a lay down after 5 days working at the recent Stitches and Craft Show. Thanks to everyone who stopped by and introduced themselves to me and also for supporting handmade in Australia!

Tomorrow is set up day for the Stitches & Craft Show. Thanks to a bunch of friends that have helped along the way. Caro kindly stitched this new design up for me. A first for her doing backstitch - I was very impressed!
So if you are in Sydney this week, please drop by and say hello -

Corbin

Congrats to my friends, Naomi and Stu, on the birth of a gorgeous little boy! I snuck in a visit today and took a little bag of goodies.

skirt

The bulk of my fabric arrived from the printer yesterday. And as per usual, I had to sew something straight away. A wet, gloomy day in Sydney has not been good for photo taking. So when the sun poked out from behind a cloud briefly, I was outside like a shot. And like all of my projects, this is not ironed - please excuse the wrinkles.
Fabric: 'hummingbird' in mustard and gray on cotton/linen.
PS. Alison, your piece is already in the post.

stylish dress book

I bought this Japanese  'stylish dress book' a few months back. I've tackled the first pattern and have to say it was quick, and easy. I will be making this again. ISBN978-4-579-11226-5

In no time at all it will be here. The Stitches & Craft Show, Sydney. And here's a peep at a couple of more quilts my Aunty Norma made to display.

film and swap

Show and tell for today:
a) a recent swap done with the super talented Jesse. Thanks!! Love the photo of textile designers in her latest post. I could really see something similar with some friends of mine... Lara, B, Teegs, Shannon - anyone for a photo shoot?
b) new film for a 2 colour yardage design. This is a BIG deal for me. There are a lot of different costs involved in hand screen printing. It all starts with the film - $330AUD for 2 pieces... ahhh. Almost more than I spend on clothing in a year. So for that price, I think it deserves it's own blog post and photo.

little angel

She swoops into Sydney for a brief chat, cup of tea and scones. Delivers the most stunning quilts she has been working on in secret for the past few months and then she's gone, back to sunnier lands north of Sydney. One hour with my 'little angel'. The sweetest and most talented quilter. One of the most encouraging forces in my life (along with Mum & Dad). And she goes by the name of Aunty Fuzz. Thanks.

Here are just 2 of the 5 pieces (yes, 5!) that were delivered today. To be displayed at the Stitches and Craft Show in Sydney come August. More pics soon.

Interuption

Not much blogging here lately. Everyone in the house has got a virus, so we have been laying on the lounge. Hope to get back to blogging soon.

Taking time to slow down, look around, and start designing again.

cuckoo

Finally, I have listed this design in my shop. I designed this one for the Melbourne Stitches and Craft show earlier this year. I have since done a second print run and there are a few available here.
And as my friend, Angela, once told me 'Donkeys are the new owl.' - pass it on!

for Caia

My little friend, Caia,  turned one last week. I made this dress for her today - she was not so impressed as it wasn't a toy, but her mummy liked it.
