Wah Wah

She has a name. Though it's not official yet, I'm waiting for the call. Meanwhile, here's the quilt I made for her. Not quite the traditional baby colours for a girl, but it was well received! The owls and lily pads are my prints and the other is by Publisher Textiles (bought at a remnant sale last year). The perfect colour bias tape was narrower than I like. Craft-shop lady suggested I make my own bias. She received a big frown. So instead I hand-sewed the tape on (too skinny to machine sew neatly). I hope Wah Wah notices one day, probably not.

That loves wonderful. What a lucky baby.
And don't be afraid of making your own bias for binding a quilt - honestly it is easy. There are tutorials on the net - Heather Bailey has a great one.
Funny. All the work of designing fabric and sewing a quilt, but stopping at the bias making. We all have our limits. I think the blanket is splendid and would be wonderful for boy or girl. I'm actually coveting it, really.
What a lovely quilt. Nice to see you have steered away from the normal girly colours. I'm sure she will love it but it may take a while to appreciate the binding.
i LOVE it. and thank you for not making a pink pastel baby quilt!
Really a beautiful quilt. The tree fabric is amazing. Very impressed by the handsewing.
I like it when baby quilts aren’t pink or blue. However, most parents do want those colours. The quilt looks great. No wonder, with such lovely fabrics and your skills.
Fabulous quilt and i love the colours too. I too would have given the same look about making my own bias binding - however i have since tried and really it is very very easy!!
Very beautiful quilt and I love your fabrics!
Greetings,Steffi
It looks fabulous and I love the fact that it isn't pink or blue too!
Great quilt! Your prints are wonderful and these colors are lovely.
it looks great. I can't be bothered to make bias tape either, but sometimes wish I could be. love those owls.
*GASP* Love it!
birch make a handy bias maker that you just have to cut strips to a certain width on the cross and then you poke it through the bias maker thingamajig and iron it as it comes out the other side - too easy - I just had to do it from a japanese sewing book I got and figured it all out pictorially so I am sure you would be able to do it - love the quilt, and the fabrics
