Homespun

Finally, I can spill the beans about a project I worked on last year. Australian Homespun magazine is in the shops this week. Here's the pic from inside the mag. And there's a pattern included. The first pattern I have ever had to write up - eye opening experience. It's so much easier to whip something up for yourself than write down every step of the way. And thanks to the Editor, Catherine Sanchez, it was great working with you!

Congratulations Kristen. What a gorgeous pillow and I will be sure to be looking out for that Homespun magazine and making me one of these. I hope it turns out nearly as good as yours.

And your cushion is soooooooooo cute ! you know what : you should propose a kit with the fabrics and pattern in your shop ;-) I would love to see this cushion on my sofa !!! And do you know what is the napkin under the black vase ?? Smooch !

I love your pillow! I need to make new ones for my couch but have had a hard time deciding on a design. You've given me some really great ideas.

hmmm I'm not sure if I can get that mag all the way over here in the UK. I'm off to google it now and find out if I can get a copy... (lovely cushion BTW)

Congrats, Kristen! I'll have to see if I can find that mag over here in the states. I love the idea Sandrine had above of you providing a kit with the pattern for sale in your shop! Btw- I just featured you on my blog the other day. Check it out here: http://twocraftyladies.wordpress.com/2008/03/08/inspiring-me-cheeky-beaks/. Congrats again!

Brilliant Kirsten! I am a huge fan of your owl fabrics, but I have never had the confidence to cut and sew them into something that would do them justice.
I need cushions, and I need them in my red rumpus room. Woohoo! Thanks!
Off to buy the mag ASAP!

Congratulations Kristen!

My Daughter has a subscription to Homespun after winning the under 11 catagory of their Young Designer of the Year Award. Now I know we should have a new issue in a day or 2.

The Homespun people are just lovely, and I think their mag is one of the best around, so well done on being published in there! Did they do a profile on you as well?

Yep, there's a profile. With a dodgy pic I took of myself...never mind.

Awsome pillow! It is very different to have to write down patterns, makes projects far more time consuming :P

Kristen,

woo hoo...Homespun arrived in the Matching Pegs letterbox this morning. So far I have only looked at one project.

What dodgy pic, you look lovely?
And you have a "refreshing approach reflecting an emerging new trend in the global industry of craft." And now I also know a bit about Sooty Owls.

I really enjoy reading the profiles on the different designers - it make me feel like I can do that sort of thing as well. I enjoyed reading about your anti-hoarding stance, I also live in a tiny house that lacks storage!

I hope to see you in print some more in the future.

Congrats on your publication. I had to do a pattern once, and can so appreciate what you had to write down. It sure looks good.
