the problem

I have to finish this quilt. NOW. Here's the story...
I told Ruth to cross her legs while we were holidaying in Perth. Not such a big deal as the baby wasn't due for another 2 whole weeks. While wandering through the Perth Museum (actually in the shop looking at Danielle's lovely purses), my mobile rang and Ruth told me of the good news. A little baby girl had decided to enter the world a bit early and all was good.
Problem: my quilt for little Caia was not finished. Answer: her Dad gave everyone who was giving a handmade gift a 2 week extension until it was her actual due date. Then, if you don't come up with the goods there will be no visits!! I visited her once during the 2 week window. Gorgeous. Cutest little nose ever.
So you see my dilemma? I have to get sewing today if I am ever to get a hold of that precious little bundle again. Yesterday I did my most hated job - the pinning together. Today I sew all layers together and maybe tomorrow the binding goes on. Come Wednesday I'll be booking myself a visit.

It is really lovely. Funnily enough my niece had her baby two weeks early yesterday! her quilt is nowhere near finished. I'm at the pinning stage - these dang babies that come early! Can't wait to see the finished product!

It looks really beautiful. I hate putting the binding on but with a gift that lovely you should be able to visit every day!

The colour combo looks wonderful, got me thinking about the overdue baby gift I've got on the go, ashamed to admit he's now six months old. Good luck with finishing touches.

If you do have to burn the midnight oil at least you will have two rewards - a finished quilt and a cuddle of a baby! Your quilt is really beautiful.

can't wait to see the final product. it won't matter if it is a little late. babies get so much in the first few days, a few weeks won't make any difference.

I never pin anymore since I discovered the quilt basting spray...spray it on, put them together, quilt....great time saver.
