Work in progress

I am attempting to win a trip to London! I'm more of a sewer than a painter, but as they say - "Youv'e got to be in it to win it". So this is the start of a painting of my Mum. I just printed a pic in grayscale onto a bit of scrap paper and started painting over the top. I have changed all the colours from the original photo and added lots of pattern. I still want to cover the walls with some more pattern, haven't decided what colour yet. Maybe chocolate or off-white?

Note to Mum - Sorry I didn't do a very good job of your nose, but I know you'll forgive me!

Well, I'd say you're a pretty good painter too! That's a lovely painting of your mom. I like your idea of painting over a grayscale image, you can concentrate more on color and shading rather than lines. I'll have to try that myself, since I'm often stymied by the lines and don't get a chance to get to the color. Good luck in your contest, I hope you win!
